SURABAYA - A total of 659 students and 105 companion lecturers attended the 69th State Defense Day ceremony on Tuesday (19/12/2017) at the Eastern Fleet Eastern Fleet Training Field (KOLAT KOARMATIM), Surabaya. The students and lecturers from 44 New State Universities in Indonesia were planned to participate in the activities of the State Defender.

In the President's mandate, Ir. Joko Widodo, delivered by the Inspector of Ceremonies, Colonel Arh Eko Wibowo K conveyed that  history noted that the Republic of Indonesia could stand upright as a sovereign nation due to sacrifice the spirit of defending the country from the entire People of Indonesia, all the people sincerely sacrificed the soul and body for the homeland.

Therefore, the momentum of the 69th anniversary of the State Defense Day, the President of the Republic of Indonesia invited all Indonesian people to take concrete actions in the defense of the state.

"Remember that in the present time, the challenges to the sovereignty of the state, the territorial integrity and the safety of the Indonesian nation, are no longer multidimensional and are in every line of life," Eko said in front of the participants.

In this activity UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) sent 96 students and 16 lecturers. Acting as head of the entourage of UPNVY, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Ir. Singgih Saptono, M.T said this event was a form of collaboration of the students throughout Indonesia who pledged themselves to defend the State.

"This national voyage shows that Indonesia is a maritime country. In the voyage, the students will be forged characters according to the values ??of defending the State, "said Singgih. (HKN / FEB)
