SLEMAN - That morning, Thursday (14/12/2017) room Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation looked crowded. For almost a week this room was made as the committee room of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) Dies Natalis event organizer which was on December 15, 2017. Vice Rector who is the owner of the room had to move to make the secretarial freely functionalized space.

In front of the room, a woman is waiting. The small woman was seen hesitantly entering the room. The woman named Whenny Artika Rahayu, 9th semester student of Informatics Engineering Study Program. She wants to do the thesis guidance to the supervisor who happened to be one of the committee.

Whenny who was born in Bogor, September 9, 1995 has a height of 119.5 cm. The only child of the couple Darto and Sri Rahayu has been indicated a dwarfism since her birth.

Dwarfism is a short body condition due to medical or genetic disorders. A person is said to have dwarfism when the height is in the range of 147 cm or shorter. Her father who was a member of the Army had taken her to various hospitals and consulted to a doctor but there was no solution to treat his condition.

"I do not know why I'm like this. Parents say, I often get in and out of the hospital, " she said.

Accompanied dwarf Whenny is often a mockery, but the support and confidence given by parents makes her confident.

"Once when I was a child, I was often ridiculed but my mother always encouraged and supported me. It made my confidence began to emerge. There is not anyone who mock me now, " she said.

Besides the parents, the art of music became an excitement for Whenny. She was interested in it since her childhood. She once joined the choir at high school. Not only singing, but Whenny also is good at playing the piano. Whenny is also interested in information technology. She claimed to love this field since in the second grade of high school.

Born as a dwarf woman did not hinder her passion to deepen the science in that field. Her great interest with the world of informatics engineering strengthens her to continue the study.

Her passion for college got a full support from both parents. Despite having to stay in boarding house and away from his family in Bogor, it did not dampen Whenny's spirit  to pursue the ideals.

In college, her computer science skill continues to grow. She is interested in learning Artificial Intelligence Systems.

Whenny is also active in student organizations. She has served as Treasurer and Secretary of the Student Association of Industrial Engineering Department in two different periods.

Currently Whenny hopes to get a bachelor's degree soon and get a job.

"I want to graduate soon and make parents proud to have a child with conditions like me," she said excitedly.

By earning a bachelor's degree, Whenny wants to change the perception of society that education is not only for the taller.

"Getting an education is the right of everyone, including my short stature. I want to prove that with this physical condition, I can get through everything, "said the alumni of SMA Negeri 4 Bogor.

After college Whenny wants to work in the television industry. She aspires to be a television program producer. (wwj / humas)
