SLEMAN - To improve the understanding and awareness,  the academic cavities  realized  UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) to be a green, cool, clean and beautiful campus and actively participate in supporting the sustainability of the Earth organized Environment-Based Campus Development Workshop on Friday (12/01/2018) , at FTM Seminar Room at UPN Condong Catur Campus.

 This workshop featured Prof. Dr. Riri Fitri Sari from University of Indonesia as a speaker. Riri is the founder of a world university ranking system based on environmental management known as UI GreenMetric. Riri's contribution to the implementation of the GreenMetric UI since 2010 has attracted the attention of university leaders worldwide.

 UI GreenMetric is a UI innovation that has been widely recognized in the international world as the world's first university-based high commitment based on campus environmental management. From year to year there is always an increase in the enthusiasm of university participants in the world to participate in the greenhouse campus ranking. It is noted that the number of participants of UI GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities in 2016 was becoming 516 from 74 countries.

 In this workshop Riri said that there were six main approaches to the implementation of environment-based campus development programs, namely setting and infrastructure, water, energy and climate change, transport / transportation, waste, and education.

 "Setting and Infrastructure aims to encourage participating universities to provide more space for greening, in protecting the environment, and encouraging sustainable energy development," she told UPNVY leaders, lecturers and education staff.

The water indicators are intended to enable universities to reduce water use inefficiencies, improve conservation programs, and protect their habitats. Energy and climate change indicator, continued Riri, universities are expected to increase the energy efficiency efforts on buildings, and the use of natural resources and energy.

The transport indicators are how universities make policies to limit the number of motor vehicles on campus, encouraging the use of campus buses and bicycles will encourage a healthier environment. The waste indicator is the university's waste management program policy.

 Workshop was closed by Rector UPNVY, Prof. Dr. Sari Bahagiarti K, M.Sc. which expects that this activity can encourage the spirit to always act and behave based on environmental sustainability including participating in creating a green environment of UPNVY environment.
