SLEMAN – Being tired, bored, and having no time to gather with friends was finally paid off with Benny Ariandy Saputra’s cum laude predicate achievement on Graduation of Diploma, Bachelor and Master of the 2nd Academic Year of 2017/2018 at WR Auditorium. Supratman, UPNVY Condong Catur Campus, Saturday (13/01/2017).
In addition to getting predicate praise, Benny who now officially holds a Bachelor of Engineering (S.T) also won the first rank award of Karya Cendekia along with 9 other graduates. It is given to students who not only have academic achievements and graduated in a short time, but also excel in various scientific and non scientific events, active in organizational and social activities. From this award, he got a laptop unit from UPNVY.
The son of Eddy Soesianto had 5 international scientific journals. He once wrote to the Journal of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, and Indonesian Petroleum Association in 2017.
Benny, who completed his 4 years and 3 months Bachelor Degree, was also active and be a champion in various competitions, namely 1st Winner of Geothermal Rig Design Competition in 2015, 1st Place of Poster Competition OGIP 2014, Winner of Paper Competition on OGIP 2015, 3rd Winner of International Oil Rig Design Competition in 2015, Second Prize in Poster Contest at National Geothermal Seminar XI in 2016, and the latest is the second winner of Paper Competition at RAISE 2017.
Benny told the most memorable event when competing at the competition during the International Oil Rig Design Competition.
"In this competition I designed the offshore platform, then presented to the jury. I explained the process of innovation, work system, devision, distribution and then my presentation results were tested whether it was worth to be continuing or not research, " he said eagerly.
In addition to academic achievement, Benny was also active in the field of sports. Benny once incised the achievement of becoming the first champion of Kumite 68 Junior at the Karate Junior Championships IV Pengprov Forki DIY in 2015.
He explained that he has been involved in this sport since he was in junior high school. Then it continued when he was in a high school of SMA Negeri 7 Yogyakarta and when he became a student at UPNVY, he still continued his hobby.
"I still practice until now, but I don’t have it for the tournament, because I focus on the petroleum competition," he said when met on the sidelines of the graduation procession.
The recognition of karate was also the reason for choosing oil engineering education. On the advice and encouragement of his karate coach, he then continued his studies at UPNVY.
"My coach advised me to take petroleum, the same encouragement my father also gave me. Although at the same time, I was also welcomed on different campuses but I chose UPN, "said Benny who has already got the brown belt.
In addition to being champion in various competitions, Benny is also active in the organization. He became one of the managers of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Executive Board of Islamic SMEs-Nurul Ilmi.
After graduation, Benny plans to apply for a job with his diploma and experience. He hopes to be accepted in a petroleum company. (wwj / humas)
