Bella’s Message For Women Who Want to Join Engineering Department :: dipost pada 16 Januari 2018

SLEMAN - So far the Department of Engineering is identical with men because of the hard college assignments, always being pursued by deadlines, and courses that cannot be carelessly done. However, the assumption does not apply to Bella Wijdani Sakina graduated from the Department of Geology, Faculty of Mineral Technology UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta who was graduated on Saturday (13/1/2018).

 For Bella, attending engineering majors was very challenging and fun. Being one of 6 women in her male-dominated class became a challenge for her. Met on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony, Bella who  was since high school aspired to continue her studies in the Department of Geology UPNVY told her likes and sorrows to be engineering students.

"Very exciting to have the college, if  we had the practice, we go to the field together. It's like having a new family, knowing each other. Our bond is very strong, " she said.

Despite being a minority in the classroom and department, according to Bella herself and other female students never got a discrimination or priority. If anyone was slow whoever he was, he will be left behind because  this department requires discipline.

 Bella, who was born in Pekalongan, November 11, 1995 said that studying in engineering department means being physically and mentally ready, because there were many field tasks.

 "The grief must be tired. I sometimes was jealous if I see female students from other majors who can be pretty. We are here subjecedt to get in sunlight, " she said.

Bella's commitment to study in Geology Department was proved by the value of GPA of 3.53 and the study duration of 4 years 3 months. In addition, Bella also exceled during the college. She  has been a writer on Proceedings of International on Earth Sciene and Technology 2017 in Kyushu, Japan, Proceedings of the 2nd  South Asia Geosciences Student Conference Year 2016 at UGM, Proceedings National Seminar of Earth XII Year 2017 and Proceedings National Seminar of Earth.

 Bella was also the winner of The Best Poster at Jogja Earthquake in Reflection Poster Competition 2016, The Best Poster at National Geumers XII Seminar of 2017 FTM UPNVY and 3rd Winner of ITB Year 2016 Paper Geology Student Competition Competition.

 For this achievement, Bella along with 9 other graduates were entitled to receive Cendekia Works award from UPNVY.  It is given to students who not only have academic achievements and graduated in a short time, but also exceled in various scientific and non scientific events, active in organizational and social activities.

 Facing the admission of new students in 2018, Bella advised that students who register to prepare physically and mentally, as well as diligent study.

 "Female friends who want to study in engineering majors should be mentally prepared. Not only want to be cool, but must be physically ready because of many field lectures, " she said. (Wwj / humas)
