YOGYAKARTA - Student of Communication Studies Department of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) held a social action DEDICATION (Dental Care for Delight Communication) on Sunday morning (29/4) under UGM new bridge. This activity was attended by children who live around the Kalicode River.

This activity in the background of healthy teeth and mouth is the key in daily communication, but there are still areas that have never done mass toothbrush activities in downtown Yogyakarta.

This action was started with dental and mouth health education, then followed by mass toothbrush in cooperation with BEM FKG UGM as extension worker. The participants looked happy and enthusiastic during the event.

"Fun, because it is fun and can be a lot of prizes, the clown is also funny" said Carenia Chelsea Putri Aprilia one of the participants from RT.18 Kotabaru Urban Village.

They cooperated with the Committee of Paguyuban Pengajar Pinggir Sungai (P3S) to gather the children.

The Principal of P3S, Galeih Yudi Setiawan, said that this new educational and toothbrush activity was first held during our teaching around Kalicode. He believed that this event contributed to the spirit and interest of children's learning. The hope is that children around Kalicode be aware of the importance of oral health.

"Aside from being a course assignment, we realize that as a student, in addition to studying, we also have to raise awareness towards others, and I hope the students in other universities hold social activities as a form of community service," said Amanda Aulia Rachman, the Chairman of DEDICATION Committee 2018.

Previously, the committee also held a campaign action "One Smile for Another Smile" in the Sunmor event, Yogyakarta on Sunday (8/04/2018). The campaigns conducted in the form of donation collection to be exchanged with toothbrush and toothpaste for children around the Kalicode River.

"Alhamdulillah, we got positive response and support from jogja society, so we managed to collect donation of  618,000 rupiahs,f said Amanda.

DR. Puji Lestari, M.Si as a lecturer of Marketing Public Relations who participated in this event said Dedication is an event related to the study of health communication.

"Having a healthy tooth and mouth improves one's confidence in communicating. Moreover, this event is an opportunity for students to establish relationships with various parties, both government, private companies, public um, and media relations ", he explained.
