SLEMAN - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) represented by the Office of International Affairs hosts the Journey on ASEAN (P2A) Journey on Campuss by Temasek Polytechnic Singapore. The activity which takes place on 21-24 January 2019 is attended by 33 participants along with 2 accompanying teachers. The participants are also accompanied by 11 UPNVY students as buddies or activities companion.
P2A is an activity that is followed by various campuses in ASEAN that aims to spread inter-cultural solidarity and understanding to support ASEAN's vision and mission. The activities held include visits between universities, student exchanges, and training for students and lecturers. UPNVY has hosted P2A several times from various campuses.
The participants have the opportunity to learn Indonesian culture such as learning Indonesian language and Saman Dance. In addition there is an industrial visit to PT Mirota KSM to see the milk making process. The participants from the Engineering Department seem enthusiastic in discussing to exchange information about the production process in Indonesia. Besides learning activities, there are also tourist visits to Borobudur Temple, Fort Vredeburg, and Kraton Yogyakarta. In closing, all participants visits the Orphanage Institution: Mafaza for solidarity and have the opportunity to present the Saman Dance that had been studied before.
"This activity is very useful as a media to exchange information and increase international networks. Students can also practice communicating directly in English. The hope is that Temasek students can get memorable experiences in this activity, "said Indria Kusumadewi, coordinator of UPNVY students. (Lucia Yuriko)
