Sleman - UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta Mining Engineering Student Association held a National Seminar on Youth Mining Comp Competition (YMCC) 2019 along with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta and PT Sandya Bumi Karsa as the Mining Alumni Association (IKATA) and Micromine Indonesia, Saturday (4/4) in the Ballroom of Merapi Merbabu Hotel. The national seminar activity with the theme of "The New Era of Indonesian Mining World" was the closing event of the YMCC 2019 events series. The aim of this activity was to improve the quality of graduates and to level up the mining education in Indonesia.
Chancellor of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta Dr. Irhas Effendi, in his speech said he appreciated the implementation of this activity, especially for the students of Mining Study Program, Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.
In his remarks, he said that the enthusiasm for the new student admissions registration in 2019 from the National University Admission (SNMPTN) path was highestly achieved by the Mining Study Program.
"Imagine, the capacity of the mining study program this year was only 36 seats, the registrants reached 1,028 participants. The mining study program is the strictest study program for the level of compliance in 2019”, the Chancellor proudly added.
In addition, the Chancellor gave an advice that “we need to maximize the research products, so that the research does not stop at publications, but is expected to contribute to the maximum progress of the country’s development”.
On the same occasion, Dr. Edy Nursanto, ST, MT as the head of the mining study program said that he expressed his gratitude for the tremendous support from the sponsors: PT Inalum, PT Multi Harapan Utama, PT ANTAM Tbk Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (PT AMNT), PT Bukit Assam, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT J Resoursces Nusantara, PT Micromine Indonesia, PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) PT HC Mining Service, PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Multi Tambang Jaya Utama, PT Binuang Mitra Bersama, PT Dahana , PT Naga Borneo Energy, PT Waskita Karya, PT Dhutadarma Utama and PT Mitra Maju Gemilang (MMG) and IA Sangatta.
"YMCC 2019 was held for 6 days starting on April 29, d. May 4, 2019 with a series of activities including mining games competition, debate competition, student paper competition, micromine competition, mining expo and closed with the peak event, namely a national seminar. "The event is held every 2 years, which is held by HMTA as a forum for friendship as well as leveling of education among universities in Indonesia which have mining major”, added Edy.
This activity was ended by giving the awarding of the winner of the 2019 YMCC competition, which had been held five days from April 29 to May 4, 2019, in Tinalah Tourism Village, Puroharjo, Samigaluh, Kulon Progo.
