SLEMAN - After 53 years, Petroleum Engineering Study Program of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta (UPNVY) gets A accreditation. It was not an easy struggle to achieve the highest accreditation grade givren by BAN-PT.

UPNVY is the only state university in Yogyakarta that has a Petroleum Engineering study program. Therefore, this achievement becomes a proud thing for all academics.

"The Petroleum Engineering Study Program in Yogyakarta for PTN is only in UPN, we are the pioneers", said Puji Lestari, the Head of UPNVY External Quality Assurance Center, when was interviewed on Friday (7/26/2019).

She revealed that there were various consequences that Petroleum Engineering study program would have, such as increased public trust. On the other hand, the BAN-PT Assesor of Communication Studies Program said that the public interest in applying to petroleum engineering was also high.

On the other hand, this accreditation will also make the  alumni be easier to get a job in various places. It is possible for the  alumni to have important positions in an agency or company.

"The alumni’s support and the udents’ achievements are so good that this Petroleum Engineering can get A accreditation," said Topan, the Head of UPNVY Petroleum Engineering Department.

Topan revealed various challenges that must be faced after achieving this A accreditation. One of them is having an international accreditation for higher education.

A number of strategies have been carried out to obtain a satisfying international accreditation. One of them is to equip the students with various international discourses such as the TOEFL test.

"This university also has to compete with various international universities that have been advanced in Asia. So, the quality can be guaranteed", he said. (asa / adn / adv)
