Sleman - UPN "Veterans" Yogyakarta held an open senate session. This open senate session marked the inauguration of new student admissions for the academic year of 2019/2020. The Chancellor of UPN Veterans Yogyakarta Dr. Irhas Effendi, MS led the open senate session. The Chancellor of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, Mohamad Irhas Efendi, MS said that he welcomed the new students to the State Defense campus UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.
"The admission of new students of the State Higher Education Entrance Joint Selection (SBMPTN) UPN "Veterans Yogyakarta ranked the first in the level of rigor for the social humanities (soshum). Meanwhile, UPN" Veterans "Yogyakarta won seventh from all PTN Indonesia for the science and technology (science and technology)", added the Chancellor.
In his speech, the Chancellor added that “we are now entering the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, an era marked by the existence of cyber physical systems, internet of things, and networks. This is a continuation of the Industrial Revolution 3.0 era which was marked by automation, computers and electronics. This has changed the way of life, how to work and how to relate to one another. This era does not only open up various opportunities to increase competitiveness because the entry of various ideas and understand more freely, but it also has the potential for the entry of ideas and understandings that can also have a conflict with the state ideology. Therefore, the PKK BN program which took the theme "Realizing Students Defending State Character to face the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0" this year is very appropriate. It must be able to fortify the students from the erosion of a sense of nationalism in order to increase the competitiveness at the global level within the opportunities created by the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The campus also continues to develop important values ??in the form of discipline, struggle and creativity for all academicians and staffs.
The UPNVY Chancellor urged the new students to join 52 Student Organizations (26 UKM and 30 OK) to develop the socialization and organizational skills. Following student organizations indirectly will also develop the students’ soft skills.
