SLEMAN - Disaster Management Magister Program and Communication Studies Magister Program UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) first graduated graduates this morning, Saturday (12/10). Four graduates of the Master of Disaster Management got MMB degrees, while the two graduates of the Masters in Communication Studies hold the M.I.Kom degree.

The Masters in Disaster Management is a master's degree study program under the Faculty of Mineral Technology. This study program has just received an accreditation certificate from the National Accreditation Agency (BAN PT) on April 9, 2019 with a grade of B. meanwhile, the Master of Communication Studies is a study program under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (UPNVY) with accreditation B through the BAN PT decree on the 20th  August 2019.

Although they tend to be new study programs, their contributions have been felt in the community. The Disaster Management Masters students played a role in dealing with the disaster risks that occur in Indonesia.

"The students have been involved in the training and formation of Disaster Resilient Villages in Bali, East Java and DI Yogyakarta. They get involved in handling the disaster emergencies in Central Sulawesi”, explained Eko firmly Paripurno, the study program coordinator of the Master of Disaster Management.

During their time as students, ET said, Eko's nickname, they were equipped with the pre-disaster management competencies including the prevention management, risk management and mitigation management.

The students were also provided with the management during disasters in the form of emergency prepareness and management and post-disaster management (rehabilitation and reconstruction).

"Some time ago, we received an award from the Secretary of Central Sulawesi for the UPNVY contribution in handling the post-disaster in Central Sulawesi," ET said.
