SLEMAN - The industrial era 4.0 is a thing that continues to roll in the world. Every line of life then leads to the rapid development of the world. It also happens to the handling of industrial engineering as a scientific field.
Related to this, Universitas Pembangunan Negeri ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta (UPNVY) held a national seminar. The Industrial Engineering Conference 2019 is an annual event held by Industrial Engineering Faculty of UPNVY. The purpose of the seminar is none other than to disseminate researches conducted by academics and practitioners. The research dissemination aimed to share researches one to another.
"The hope is to bring the togetherness between academics and practitioners in the field of industrial engineering so that the development of technology and knowledge will always be developing", said Tri Wibawa as the chairman of the seminar when being met in Merapi Merbabu Hotel on Saturday (10/26/2019).
Tri revealed that the industrial engineering itself is a technological science that integrates with various sciences. The aim is to increase the optimization of various kinds of supporting components. Later, it will be related to the outputs of the production system.
Related to the industrial revolution 4.0, the industrial engineering itself which is the basic scientific field of various lines is expected to be able to adjust. It is hoped that this scientific field, although only focused on the basic or superficial things, it can also be seen from various perspectives or lines as a whole. Later, if it is associated with the technological development in the industrial revolution, it will have an impact on the output of the industry in an effective and efficient industry.
Mohamad Irhas Effendi, the Chancellor of UPNVY, explained that the theme is related to the industrial engineering and provision for UPNVY students. Having the topics presented, the students will have competencies in the 3 main areas of literacy. They are data literacy, technology literacy, and literacy in the field of human resources.
"To support our students in facing the industrial revolution 4.0, we must have competence in the field of data literacy, literacy in technology, and literacy in the human field. Well, having this industrial engineering with the industrial revolution existence, what is taught in the curriculum will still shift. It will also shift the data processing, data observing, and data analyzing. It is very important that it will implicate the statistics on what students need to understand", concluded Irhas.
In addition to improving literacy skills in these three aspects, Irhas also emphasized that students have also to be able to anticipate the physical cyber systems. Therefore, the competent human resources are needed and they have to be able to face the relevance of these developments.
"We are required to anticipate the era of physical cyber systems. It demands human resources who are prepared and relevant to it all", he added. (Birgita / adv)
