SLEMAN - Students and lecturers of the Magister of Disaster Management of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) will carry out excursions or field lectures throughout the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The field lecture is carried out on 2-3 November 2019 starting from Mount Merapi to Parangtritis Beach, followed by the Southern Cross Line Expedition (JLS) on the second day.
The excursion aims to observe risks and find problems from various types of hazard cases encountered in the field.
"The locations of the excursion destinations are Radio Lintas Merapi and the mining area around Sidorejo, Sleman Regency, the Jogja aquifer case in Kedulan Temple, the waste management case at the Piyungan landfill, and the resource conflict case at Parangtritis Beach", said Eko Teguh Paripurno, the Chairman of the Disaster Management Magister Study Program.
In addition, the students are also invited to see the case of karst area management with the development of tourism and development along the Southern Cross Road (JLS).
Excursion is one of the compulsory subjects in Disaster Management Magister (MMB) of UPNVY. At the end of the excursion activities, the students compile a report on the excursion results which are expected to provide recommendations from the problems encountered in the field.
"In seeing disasters, we need to get used to seeing risks, not looking at benefits. So, we can provide recommendations so that the hazards can be prevented", he said. (MMB PR)
