SLEMAN - Three mosque keepers became the best graduates at the graduation held by UPN "Veterans" Yogyakarta (UPNVY), last Saturday (18/02). They are Qoidul Masa'id from the Department of Mining Engineering graduated with a GPA of 3.63 who is the administrator of the Nurul Hidayah Mosque in Puluhdadi Hamlet, Condongcatur, Sleman, Satafa Alfian Najam from the Agrotechnology Study Program graduated with a GPA of 3.56 who is the administrator of the Khusnul Khotimah Mosque, Perumahan Banteng, Jl. Kaliurang, Sleman, and R. Shochibul Izal from the Chemical Engineering Study Program with a GPA of 3.78 who is the administrator at the Nuruttaqwa Mosque, UPNVY.

They had the right to go on the stage and got the Scholar Award from the UPNVY chancellor. This award is given to graduates who have academic and non-academic achievements, and are active in organizations.

"We give this award in every graduation period to the graduates of each study program who meet the requirements. There are 10 graduates in this period”, said Eko Purnomo, the Head of Academic Affairs, UPNVY.

They had large numbers of achievements and activities. Qoidul Masa'id was the 1st winner of the Alamanda Islamic Competition, the 1st and 2nd winner in the Youth Mining Camp Competition 2016, the 3rd winner of Mining Competition Mine Evacuation Rescue, the 3rd winner of Face Tie in Sriwijaya Mining Games 2019, the 3rd winner in Underground Mine Survey competition, the 3rd winner of Micromine Competition and many other achievements in the mining sector. He was also a practicum assistant and was active in the student organizations.

Satafa once represented UPNVY as one of the participants at the 2017 and 2019 MTQMN events, participant of the Student Qiroah Contest of DIY and Central Java area. He also actively participates in the Student Creativity Program for exact research, was active as a volunteer, and active in student organizations. He was also an assistant in the Plant Culture Technology practicum in the department.

Whereas R. Shochibul Izal was an assistant of the Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Assistant for Differentiation Separation Practicum, assistant for process simulation practicum, UNHCR elegance in Asia Youth International in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, Delegation of MTQMN in 2018 and 2019. He was also active in student organizations.

Not only being a caretaker or takmir of the mosque, Qoidul Masa'id and Satafa are marbut or mosque keepers.

Masa'id told the beginning of becoming a marbut when he was accepted as a new student at UPNVY. The alumni of Madrasah Aliyah Riyadlotut Thalabah Sidorejo, Rembang, admitted that he did not have enough money to rent a boarding room.
