SLEMAN -  International Conference 2020on Geological and Civil Engineering (ICGCE) was held again. The 7th international conference provided a platform for researchers, engineers, academics and industry professionals from around the world to present the results of research and development activities in Geology and Civil Engineering held in Kyoto, Japan on 7 - 9 January 2020. UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) as one of the state universities that have advantages in the field of earth science and technology participated in the scientific event this year.

Some Geology Engineering and  Economics and Business faculty lecturers and staffs were active as speakers, and even more, one of the UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta delegates was the chair of the session in one of the parallel sessions. UPN delegation consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti K., M.Sc, Dr. Purbudi Wahyuni, M.Sc, Dra. Istiana Rahatmawati, M.Sc, and Nanda Ajeng S.T. (Magister student of Akita University). Four papers from UPNVY were presented which were each written by Prof. Dr.Ir.Sari Bahagiarti K., M.Sc, Dr. Ir. Heru Sigit Purwanto, Sugeng Raharjo, M.T., and Siti Umiyatun Choiriyah M.T, as the lead authors.

 The conference, organized by the Honk Kong Chemistry, Biology, Environmental, and Engineering Society, provided an opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas and experience new applications directly to build business or research relationships and to find global partners for future collaboration. The conference was attended by around 150 participants from all over the world.

 In addition to the conference, a cultural trip was also held to visit Fushimi Inari, a temple where Japanese nobles worshiped in ancient times when the nation's capital was still in Kyoto. (sbk / FTM)
