Going college is not just like being a butterfly (flying from campus to home). Look for as much experience as possible. That is a tip from the graduates of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) Faiz Muflih. It was like what he was doing by becoming an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol).
RADAR JOGJA - Faiz, as he is often called, has just gotten a bachelor's degree. That is thanks to the success of completing his studies at the Marketing Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, UPNVY. He graduated this January.
"Yes, I am thankful that I finally finished my studies", he told it to Radar Jogja on Wednesday (1/21) night. While in college, he decided to be an ojol driver since late 2018. He claimed that he wanted to make his own money, even though his parents still gave him a pocket allowance each month. He felt he had to be a more independent person without asking help from his parents. "What is clear is that buying something with your own money is fun", he continued.
Evidently, his efforts to be a ojol driver hemade him buy a camera without asking his parents. In addition, he could also set aside some of his money to buy a new mobile phone for his parents. "Yes, little by little although it’s not much”, he explained.
It is not so difficult for Faiz who likes adventurers. He admitted that he was very happy and not ashamed to carry out the profession. He originally wanted to do part time, but he also did not want to leave the college. “I just want something be flexible, so I can do it along with the college. So, I choose this job”, said the youngest of two siblings.
It’s certainly not an easy thing between college and work. It needed an extra energy and earnest intention. It’s because dividing time wass tricky. Faiz did not make it a burden. He turned off the application if he was in college. When it's finished, he turned on the application. "I ever worked till night", he explained.
Remarkably, he also still participates in UKM (Student Activity Unit) and other activities on campus though although he had solid activities. These activities were the Management Association Board of the period 2017/2018, Art UKM Board of the period 2017/2018, the Manivesto music event executive chairman of 2018. Yet, he also still remembered his obligations, which was college.
This young man born in Pati, 22 July 1995 was indeed not able to be silent. He wanted to always fill his spare time with useful things. In addition to pleasure in adventure, he also liked the world of photography. His shots ever became the second favorite photo at the UKM exhibition, at Loob Station year. He felt happy that peole liked his photos. In fact, in his opinion there were still many other better photos. "Even though I used a borrowed camera (at the time), there were many who liked the photos. That was one of my motivations”, he explained.
He also aspires to be an entrepreneur. In fact, he has already made some planning. Even though his parents are teachers, he is not interested in following in his parents’ step. He wants to choose his own way.
He wants to open up jobs for his friends who are confused about looking for work. Specifically, for high school or junior high school graduates who really don't have a job because of the school certificate. For him, the lecture is not just to seek knowledge. Studying for him makes him think more advanced and mature.
Many experiences can be taken from activities or friends during the college trip. From there, having more links can make us better. "If you don't have any activities during college, you have never participated in an event or organization, you won't get anything", Faiz ordered. (pra)
