Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - The spread of the corona virus has made a number of campuses in Bandung, West Java and Yogyakarta plan to implement an online lecture system.

In Bandung, there are two campuses that will implement online lectures, namely University of Padjadjaran (Unpad) and Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB).

The step is taken as a follow up of preparedness in dealing with the escalation of the corona covid-19 virus. It is stated in Encyclical Letter from each campus.

The letter issued by Unpad is a follow-up to Encyclical Letter number 529 / UN6.RKT / TU / 2020.

The Chancellor of Unpad, Rina Indiastuti said that her party implemented a policy for the managers, lecturers, students and education personnel in the campus environment so that they would remain vigilant and not panic in the dealing with the co-19 pandemic.

"Starting on March 18, 2020, the face-to-face learning activities will be gradually reduced and replaced by online methods", Rina said as quoted by the official website of Unpad, Saturday (3/14).

"The final project supervision is carried out by having a combination of online and a limited amount of face-to-face activities. The mechanism of this learning change will be regulated in a technical guide," she said.

In her Encyclical Letter, Rina also asked Unpad academicians to avoid activities that are attended by many people and not to conduct activities both academically and non-academically involving many participants.

She also reminded that the lecturers and students must behave in a healthy life and if they are in unhealthy conditions such as experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, cold, and or asphyxiation to report immediately to the data center through the application or call center at number 082116187892.

Besides Unpad, ITB will also implement online class.

In its Encyclical Letter, ITB  states to hold a daring class which refers to the Minister of Education and Culture Encyclical Letter No. 3 of 2020 concerning the prevention of the corona virus.

"It appeals to all ITB lecturers to optimize various forms of distance learning methods, including the use of e-learning or online facilities within the framework of Covid-19 prevention efforts, in accordance with the directives of the Directorate of Education and the Directorate of Educational Development of ITB", said the chancellor of ITB, Reini Wirahadikusumah .

In addition, Reini decided to stop all activities in the ITB environment which involved many participants from inside and outside the campus including the holding of graduations, generale studium, conferences, workshops, seminars and other crowds’ activities.

The Chancellor also instructed all elements of ITB leadership to always coordinate with the chancellor in the framework efforts to monitor and prevent Covid-19.

The decree shall be declared effective from the issuance of the Encyclical Letter from March 14 to April 30, 2020.

 4 Campuses in Yogya

The same thing is applied to a number of universities. There are four state universities in Yogyakarta that have taken the decision to suspend lectures on campus to anticipate the spread of the corona virus.

Teaching and learning activities on these four campuses are temporarily conducted online.

Gajah Mada University (UGM) is one of them. Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta decides a number of policies related to the learning process in the Chancellor Encyclical Letter No. 1604 / UN1.P / HKL / TR / 2020.

One of them, replacing Teaching and Learning Activities (KBM) on campus and classes with online KBM methods or other learning methods, starts March 16, 2020.

"UGM has applied Covid-19 Standby status since this Encyclical Letter was issued", said the UGM Chancellor, Panut Mulyono, in his written statement, on Saturday (3/14).

In addition, UGM also limits the academic community mobility, both inside and outside the country, and closes the incoming and outgoing mobility from / to China, Italy, South Korea and Iran, until the coming May 2020.

A similar step is taken by the Chancellor of Yogyakarta State University, Sutrisna Wibawa through Chancellor Instruction No. 1 of 2020 which contains Adjustments to the Implementation of Learning Activities, Academic Services, and General Services for the Prevention of Covid-19 Spread at UNY.

According to Sutrisna, there are eight points in his instructions which generally emphasize the use of online facilities in lectures and academic activities.

"We hope that the online college policies can minimize the risk of the virus spreading while maintaining the lecture activities", he said.

Meanwhile, the practical lectures and the ones that cannot be replaced with an online system will be postponed to June and July 2020.

However, the campus is still open for academic service activities and general services so that the campus staff and lecturers must work during working hours.

Meanwhile, the activities such as Real Work Lectures (KKN), internships, and the domestic and international students exchange are also postponed until 30 April 2020. The delay determination date refers to the general assumptions of a pandemic, as determined by WHO.

Also, the Chancellor of the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN) Yogyakarta, Sahiron also published an Encyclical Letter No. 53 of 2020 concerning the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Policy related to Covid-19 Prevention.

There are 10 Covid prevention points in the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta which are holding KBM through an online system and assignnments as well as rescheduling the laboratory practices, field practices, and community service learning.

"It is forbidden to travel to other cities and overseas confirmed by Covid-19", he said. In addition, his party also formed the Covid-19 Spread Prevention Prevention Team.

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ‘Veterans’ National (UPN) Yogyakarta also takes the same steps.

The Encyclical Letter No. 9 / UN62 / TA 05.14 / 2020, the Chancellor of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Muhammad Irhas Efendi, ordered that the lectures on 30 March 2020 until the end of the Academic Year 2019/2020 will be held without face to face class.
