Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) has made various efforts to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. Recently, there was an inauguration of echelon 1 officials within the UPNVY environment. Willing to assist the COVID-19 Task Force, the echelon 1 officials of UPNVY turned in the functional allowance at the beginning of the month.
"Yesterday, the echelon 1 officials at UPNVY agreed to turn in the functional allowances at the beginning of the month, we submit it to support the COVID-19 team, hopefully other friends will also support it," said the chancellor of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY), Mohamad Irhas Effendi, Wednesday (4/29/2020).
The other steps were also taken by UPNVY to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. UPNVY had one of the villages in Yogyakarta to prepare isolation houses. It is one of UPNVY's efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in Yogyakarta.
"Today's activity is actually part of a series of UPNVY activities in order to respond to the corona virus pandemic," he said.
There is one house prepared by the COVID-19 Response Team in Tembi Village, Yogyakarta for travelers where 1 house consists of 4 rooms. In addition to preparing it, UPNVY also ordered cloth masks from the women's group in Tembi Village. It aims to keep the economy running in the village.
"UPNVY supports the preparation of the independent isolation by having beds, equipment. Then, they also ordered cloth masks because we have a group of mothers who make them. The support is more to the capacity building, "said Tatang, COVID-19 Response Coordinator in Tembi Village.
In addition to preparing the house in Tembi Village, UPNVY also responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with other things by forming the UPNVY COVID-19 Task Force chaired by Eko Teguh Paripurna.
This task force consists of various fields such as education, health, and basic needs for the UPNVY academic community. He said that food aid and medical equipment in the form of masks and hand sanitizers had been given to students in need and workers of UPNVY.
"Basic support for the students is more to the boarding students from outside of Jogja who are still staying in Jogja. They are actually the ones who need the basic support, then we develop the support to UKT 1 and 2 including Bidikmisi, "said Irhas.
To support the online lecture process due to the COVID-19 outbreak, UPNVY has also provided assistance in the form of pulses and data packages to its students. He hopes that students will no longer have difficulty attending online lectures.
UPNVY Alumni Association in cooperation with BNPB provided assistance in the form of 150 personal protective equipment (PPE) and 11 mask boxes which will be distributed to the UPNVY Primary Clinic and Villages Partner.
For the local residents, UPNVY provided 30 food packages for the residents of Kampung Puluhdadi, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This assistance was given to the residents who were workers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
"They were mostly laid off workers, laundry aides, small shops, and parking managers. Since many do not work, most of the residents open small stalls to serve students, "said RW Chairman in Pulungdadi Village, Hari Purnomo.
