Sleman – Student Association of U Agrotechnology Study Program of PN "Veteran" Yogyakarta held an activity called #HMPSAgroteknologiPeduli. This activity is a form of community service conducted by the HMPS Agrotechnology. In previous years, HMPS Agroteknologi more assisted villagers and farmers to plant mangroves on the Kulon Progo beach.
This year, HMPS Agroteknologi formed a team called the Covid Task Force of HMPS Agrotechnology. This activity has three agendas. First, holding an open donation for the agrotechnology students of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta who are affected covid-19. Second, making a documentary video about the concerns and complaints of farmers who are affected by co-19 during this pandemic. Finally, distributingdonations to the communities around   UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.
The first activity was an open donation for agrotechnology students who were affected by co-19 during the pandemic. The open donation has taken place from 29 June to 11 July 2020. The participants are not being limited, not only for the academic community of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, especially the faculty of agriculture, but the general public is also allowed to participate in this activity.
It is known that three months after the students were dismissed to have online lectures, many students are in the red zone area and are affected by co-19. As a result, many students also experience economic hardship. Based on the data that has been collected, there are around 25 students who also have proposed a reduction in UKT to date and it will continue to be recorded again.
Then, in the second agenda, the making of a documentary video about the concerns and complaints of farmers affected by co-19 due to the pandemic aims that the affected farmers get special assistance from the government, both the central and regional governments. Since during the pandemic, many students have already been in their respective regions and many agrotechnology students have been scattered in various parts of Indonesia, the target farmers to be interviewed are not only from Jogja, but also from various regions in Indonesia such as Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan.
Taufik Septiyohari, the agrotechnology student of 2017 as the chair person of the committee in this event explained that the results of the documentary video would later be published through social media, sucuh as Instagram, Youtube and Twitter, in a purpose that the video can be seen by the central government as well as the regional government and the relevant agriculture office so that farmers who experience anxiety, complaints and difficulties due to covid-19 can get attention from the government thereby they feel helped in this pandemic.
On the third agenda, that is the distribution of donations to the community around UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta is done with the intention of helping the people directly affected by covid-19 that includes the people who have lost their jobs or have been laid off, as well as small traders who could not sell at a pandemic. Moreover, the Covid Task Force Team of HMPS Agrotechnology will also look for accurate and targeted community data for this activity through the RT or local village apparatus
"It considers that there are many people living around the campus as traders or food vendors who automatically get their turnover or their economy has decreased due to the large number of students returning to their hometowns in the past few months, and even will becontinuing to the end of December due to online lectures. This is what causes people experience economic decline," explained Taufik.
After the donations are collected, the donations will later be given in the form of food and cash to the community and agrotechnology students who need it. It is hoped that although the basic food items provided is not much, at least it can ease the burden on the family and support their daily lives for the next few days.
