Sleman – Aan Munandar, a student of Geophysical Engineering Department, Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta to socialize the prevention of Covid-19 with the Kumbang Serdadu Community School in the localization area, Sosromenduran, Thursday, July 19, 2020.

Aan Munandar said that in the midst of positive cases of the corona virus that never showed a decline, children who were members of this school in fact remained enthusiastic in participating in learning activities carried out in one of the resident’s house in Sosromenduran Village, Yogyakarta. The school is a non-formal education forum that focuses on children character education in the Yogyakarta City area, especially in Sosromenduran area.

The Kumbang Serdadu Community School is a community formed by students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta which is basically based on the student's concern for fulfilling children's rights in Yogyakarta, especially in Sosromenduran area. At the beginning, the school formation was only carried out in one place, but it has 2 branches now where the activities are in Sosromenduran Village and Pringgokusuman Village. The school consists of teaching volunteers who are predominantly from the UPN "Veteran" Campus in Yogyakarta and several campuses in Yogyakarta," Aan added.

This Geophysical Engineering student added that the school in collaboration with the Yogyakarta City Children Forum conducted learning with children about Corona Virus Prevention Socialization on Thursday 19 July 2020. The activity began with an introduction from the Yogyakarta City Children Forum which was followed by an ice breaking which carried out the Rights of the Child movement that is life, growth and development, protection, and participation. Activities are the main activities in the form of Socialization of Corona Virus Prevention which contains an introduction to what Corona Virus is, how it is spread, and how to maintain cleanliness, especially procedures for washing hands. The activity ended with question and answer with prizes for children who were brave and correct in answering questions.

On the same occasion, Dominicus Rastradewa who is the Chairperson of the Kumbang Serdadu Community School from the Geophysical Engineering Department of 2018 stated that the Yogyakarta City Children's Forum performed very well, because in the midst of the pandemic there were many children who did not have leisure activities, so the focus of the children tend to play gawai, thus this activity can fill the free time of children in Sosromenduran area.

He also hopes that this kind of activity can be carried out routinely even in the middle of a pandemic with remembering that the health protocol that has been called on by the government is important to do, because this activity is very beneficial for children rather than just filling in spare time with activities that are considered less useful.
