Sleman - Arts Student Unit (UKM) of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) has held an activity called "Music Production Challenge". This activity is a continuation of the Basic Music Production Workshop, with Rahmanda Alfi Syahrin Batubara as the speaker. In this workshop, the speaker discussed the basics of music production using Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software. The Music Production Challenge is aimed at all UKM members, especially members of the Band Sub Unit, which is held on July 3-16, 2020. The concept of this challenge itself is in the form of making music as free and creative as possible with a video / audio format that will be uploaded on the Instagram account of each participant.
Satrio Utomo, as the Chairman of Latbang Division stated that the purpose of the Music Production Challenge was to provide a forum for members to be more productive in dealing within the pandemic situation, as well as to increase the creativity of members. In producing this music, each member is not required to use DAW software as exemplified in the workshop, they can still do other music production such as covering music, because in this challenge the most important thing is the enthusiasm and creativity of the participants.
"Actually, this Music Production Challenge activity is the first time carried out. Later on, the work of these friends will be judged; the first, second, and third champions will be taken. The evaluation criteria will be based on creativity, uniqueness, and quality of the arrangement," said Satrio Utomo, as the Chairman of Latbang Division.
Satrio continued that there were several obstacles in the implementation of the Music Production Challenge. "This challenge is relatively small in participants, it could be because some members do not yet have DAW software, and if they cover their songs, they are also constrained by the musical instruments that are mostly left in Jogja."
One participant in the Music Production Challenge, Fajar Gifary, revealed "I think this challenge is very good for developing our production skills (members), we are also be able to use various kinds of software to produce music. The obstacle that I experienced while producing music yesterday, it was rather difficult to find the right instrument.”
Positive response regarding the Music Production Challenge was also raised by Kasub Band, Rony Syantury, "Activities like this are certainly very positive, where the facilities such as applications to make music can add insight into discussion, expand ideas for work, and add skills to friends. Also, having this challenge, we want to prove that even though we cannot perform on stage during this pandemic, we can still work and explore music even further. Our hope that this activity can inspire many people in the futu
