SLEMAN – Saturday morning (15/7/2017) UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta would inaugurate 470 graduates from the Magister, Graduate (S1) and Diploma study programs in WR Supratman Auditorium, on UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta’s Condong Catur Campus. Of the 470 graduates 135 passed with excellence (cum-laude): 5 from Magister program and 130 from the graduate (S1) programs.

In the 4th graduation of the 2016/2017 Academic Year, the Karya Cendekia awards will be given to 10 best achievers/graduates. These awards are given to students who do not only achieve excellent academic performance or graduate early but also have good achievements in various competitions and are actively engaged in the organizational and social activities.

Deputy Rector II commissioning Students’ Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Singgih Saptono, M.T., said that the KaryaCendekia awards have been provided for 17 years and are given in every graduation inauguration period.

“The three top graduates will be given a laptop, and 7 others a digital dictionary. The prizes are the representation of our appreciation for the high-achieving students. Apart from these, savings and other prizes are prepared to be given by our partners,” said Mr. Singgih in his office, on UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta Condongcatur Campus, Friday (14/7/2017).

Mr. Singgih further explained that the 10 top graduated had been selected strictly. The Committee composed of the university’s leaders, deans and head of the existing bureaus selected all the candidates to receive the awards by comparing the various evaluation components.

The Karya Cendekia Awards were directly given by the Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti K M.Sc during the graduation inauguration.

This year, 2017, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta also opens three new S-1 study programs; Metallurgy Engineering, Geology and Information system. In addition, a Geological Engineering Doctorate Study program is also opened. (wwj/humas)
