SLEMAN - Thirteen lecturers and students of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta have tested negative for Covid-19 on the results of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) examination. They were AA, six lecturers, two educational staff, and 4 students who are categorized as close contacts. Meanwhile, the results of the rapid test on 16 other students who had light contact were declared non-reactive.
Previously AA was declared positive for Covid 19 on the results of the PCR examination that he carried out in the context of overseas requirements. He then made close contact and brief contact with lecturers and students when conducting a thesis trial as a requirement for graduation from the master program.
"The result of AA’s first swab test was positive and the second was negative. Likewise, the lecturers and students who made close contact and brief contact, the result was negative and non-reactive," explained Eko Teguh Paripurno, the Chairperson of the Covid-19 Team of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta when contacted by cell phone on Tuesday (8/9).
Even though they were declared negative, 29 people continued to undergo self-quarantine in accordance with the instructions of the UPNVY Chancellor. The instruction was announced as UPNVY's quick step in the efforts of preventing the transmission and spread of the Covid-19 virus in the campus environment.
In addition to instructing self-quarantine, the Chancellor of UPNVY also ordered the temporary closure of one of the faculties.
"Currently, we are still closing the building of one of the faculties and sterilizing it. All activities are carried out online," he explained.
Until now, the activities at UPNVY both on campus 1 which is located in Condongcatur and Campus 2 in Babarsari are still running normally. The protocol for the prevention and transmission of Covid 19 continues and is tightened. UPNVY itself, continued Eko, is preparing new habits in the campus environment, several activities both academic and student services have been carried out offline (face-to-face) by paying attention to the health protocols.
