SLEMAN – bright light gleams from the face of Hendri Susanto S.E when he was announced as the best graduate of S-1 program in the graduation inauguration of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) for 4th Period of 2016/2017 Academic Year, with a cumulative performance index 3.74. Born in Pekalongan on 30th June 1995, this award winning student is a graduate from S-1 Economy Management study program having completed his study in 3 years and 6 months. Hendri joined the graduation inauguration, which was held on Saturday (15/7/2017) together with 469 other graduates, taking place in the WR Supratman Auditorium on UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta’s Condong Catur Campus.

In addition to being the best graduate, Hendri was the first ranked recipient of the Karya Cendekia award, along with 9 other top graduates. Karya Cendekia awards are given to students with excellent academic performance who complete their study in a short period of time, and also have great achievements in various competitions and actively participate in organizational and social activities. From this award he received a laptop from UPNVY, savings from the university’s partners and other gifts.

The first child of Winarto and Sri Wigati has been an Assistant of Lecturers’ Research; First Champion in Glow in Management Competition 2015 at Soegijapranata University, Runner up in National Problem Solving Competition 2016 at Widya Mandala Catholic University, Runner up II  National Debate of Economic Issues “DIEN” of 2014 at Yogyakarta State University, the third winner in the National Level Management Case Analysis Competition 2015 held at JendralSudirman University, and active a committee member and participant in a number of seminars. Hendri told that the most impressive competition he has taken part in was the Management competitions held at Atmajaya University and Soegijapranata University.

“We managed to beat the two strong teams that usually win the competition. The two teams have been the strong rivals for UPNVY in the competitions. I was so happy we could win the competition,” said Hendri during the graduation inauguration.

Different activities outside the campus did not make Hendri slaw down in his study. He admits that in the initial stage of his tertiary study he would spend a lot of time with his friends.

“I would play around quite often but later on I always tried to allow time to study in my free time, when I had no organizational activities to do, “ Hendri told.

Apart from being the champion Hendri was also active in organizations, He became the General Leader of BPPM Kliring of the Faculty of Economy and Business of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.

Hendri plans to continue his study by taking a Magister Program with an Islamic University in India through a scholarship scheme. In the future, he wants to be an entrepreneur by developing startup. (wwj/humas)
