The Professional Certification Institute (LSP) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta held a competency test on September 24-25, 2020. One of the competency certifications offered was the Professional Marketing Personnel which was intended for the students of S1 Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics. The competency test was carried out offline at the Marketing Laboratory of the Management Economics Department while adhering to existing health protocols. There were 40 participants who came from the 2016-2018 classes who have fulfilled the required documents without being charged any fee. There were two types of exams that must be passed, namely a written exam in the form of an essay and an oral exam. The assessors on duty were Dr. Dyah Sugandini, S.E., M.Si and Danang Yudhiantoro, S.E., M.Si who came from the Management Economics Department of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. The participants who passed the exams got a competency certificate that can be used by the graduates as an SKPI (Certificate of Companion Certificate) and will be of credit point to have employment opportunities.

 Dr. Meilan Sugiharto, S.Sos., M.Si, the Head of LSP UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, revealed that the competency test this time was carried out for free from BNSP grants. The total number of participants was 440 students covering 11 schemes with 22 assessors who were permanent lecturers of UPNVY.

  "I hope this program can help the students when they graduate. In addition to diplomas, there are competency certificates in accordance with their fields, making it easier for them to compete in the world of work. In addition, the competency test this time helps in improving UPNVY's image through graduates who are competent in their fields according to the strategic goals of the UPNVY Chancellor in 2020," he said when being interviewed online.

 He added that the increasingly tough challenges in the world of work demand that the students not only capable in academic abilities, but also have competency certificates to deal with the existing competition. A competency certificate will also be useful for the students to get a job that matches to the competency field in the certificate. In addition to certification for Professional Marketers, LSP Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta also provides System Analyst certification, Public Relations Officer, General Banking Officer, General Supervisor Health and Safety, MSME Advisory Consultants, 5 Qualifications in Organic Agriculture, Product Design and Production Processes, Engineering Primary Accounting, Intermediate Accounting Technician and Expert Accounting Technician.

Ulfa Awanda Rohmah as one of the participants said that she felt lucky to be able to take this competency test because from the approximately 70 registrants, there were only 40 participants passed it. The hope is that she can pass this competency test and get a certificate which will certainly be useful in the world of work. In addition to obtaining a certificate of competency test, the participants are also provided with a module containing material.
