UPNVY IS DEVELOPING MSMES IN SLEMAN THROUGH THE EMPOWERMENT OF PROCESSED ZALACCA PRODUCTS :: dipost pada 04 Oktober 2020

Since the time of the corona pandemic, many tourists and MSMEs have stopped doing their activities. One of its effects is also experienced by farmers and sellers of processed zalacca products in Turi area, Sleman. Seeing this condition, Hendro Widjanarko and Tri Wibawa, as actors of the service from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional 'Veteran' Yogyakarta (UPNVY) tried to arouse the sluggishness of sellers of processed zalacca products in the area.

"Currently, the price of zalacca tends to be unstable. Sometimes it is expensive, but in certain conditions it is cheap. Then, the service team from UPN Veteran Yogyakarta tries to help collaborating it with MSMEs to make zalacca into innovative processed food," said Hendro Wijanarko when he was involved in this service activity onFriday (2/10/2020).

This activity takes place from the training assistance stage to the last one, namely marketing and financial management. In processing assistance, MSME actors are accompanied in the processing process so that they have more selling power.

"The activities are carried out start from training. So, this training is the production of processing the zalacca fruit into various kinds of processing with production technology. Those who have not been able to create innovative zalacca products become innovative. What was not smooth, the results are better much in demand after using a machine made by the servants, "he said. 

So far, the pondoh zalacca processed products accompanied by UPNVY service actors have produced several products. Among them are sweets, criping, jam, candy, zalacca combination milk pie, and zalacca lunkhead.

Tri Wibawa as the service team explained that in addition to processing, the UPNVY service team also assisted MSMEs on how to pack products, marketing, including how to sell their products online.

"The results can be felt by MSME actors in Turi, Sleman. They are starting to enjoy the price zalacca  which previously tended to fall. If it fails, it is worthless. When it is processed it is more valuable and can be sold online, the marketing area is wider," said Tri.
