SLEMAN - In black and white uniform, Syifa Fachrinda mingled with around 2,342 new UPN Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) students following the opening ceremony of the Senate Open Session in order to welcome new students on Monday (14/8/2017).

Syifa wearing a plain white veil sitting with other new students. She did not look younger than his other friends. It turned out that the original girl from Semarang, Central Java is still 15 years old 4 months when declared to be a student UPNVY Faculty of Mineral Technology of 2017. Her name was mentioned in the UPNVY new admissions ceremony as the youngest student of the academic year 2017/2018 at Auditorium WR Supratman. She along with 20 new students from various advanced Study Programs on stage was one of the representatives of the alma mater jacket by UPNVY Rector.

Syifa Fachrinda was born in Semarang, April 14, 2002. The first daughter of Hari Waluyo and Susi Marjanti was accepted in the Geology Study Program through the SBMPTN selection line. Syifa recounted since junior high school (SMP) to high school level (SMA) joined the  acceleration class.

"I joined the accelerated classes when I was in Junior and senior high school, the acceleration class was fun for many fieldtrips," Syifa said.

She claimed that she never thought she was the youngest student at UPNVY. What she achieved today is the result of hard work, blessing, and support from his parents.

"It's good to be accepted at Geology Program of UPN. It is famous and well known, I am proud to be a student here," she said on the sidelines of the opening ceremony.

Although she is younger than other students, she believes that she can adapt. Nevertheless, having an education far from the family becomes one of the challenges for her. Moreover, she must learn to live independently in boarding places.

"This week, my mom is still accompanying me because I have never been far from my family. My dormitory is near the campus, "she said.

This alumni of SMA Negeri 3 Semarang admitted to be inspiring of being a lecturer because she wanted to share her knowledge.

"I want to have a good GPA. After graduating, I am going  to continue S2 and S3. Hopefully, I can achieve it ," she concluded. (wwj / humas)
