CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of the Agrotechnology study program can work in agriculture, education, mining, banking as well as the private business sector. Agro technology graduates can work in various plantation companies including sugar mills, palm oil plantations, tea plantations, horticulture plantations and ornamental gardens in the agricultural sector. They may also work as researchers in an array of state and private research institutions within various pesticide and seed companies or agricultural equipment companies. Many of the alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture have positions as local and state officials and many have become lecturers at a variety of state and private higher education institutes.

Some of the institutions that require agro technology graduates are:

  1. Ministries (Agriculture, Forestry and Plantation, Industry, Trade, Small Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, Tourism and Creative Economics, BAPPENAS- Ministry of National Development Planning, Disadvantaged Regions)
  2. Financial Institutions (Banks, Pawn Brokers, Insurance, Leasing, Pension funds)
  3. Educational Institutions (Academies, Colleges, Institutes, Universities)
  4. Local Government Agencies (Office of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Office of Marine and Fisheries,  Office of Forestry and Plantations, Office of  Cooperatives, Industry and Trade, Office of Food Security, Office of Community Development, Office of Agricultural Extension, Seed Center)
  5. NGOs that are focused on empowering farming communities.

Competency

Agricultural graduates in the field of agrotechnology are of excellence, disciplined, creative with a high level of dedication and a global perspective. It is expected that they will work as agents, managers, entrepreneurs, researchers or educators in their field.

Agents in agriculture

  • Ability to apply science and technology in the development of agricultural resources based on principles of sustainable agriculture that incorporates modern methods and local knowledge.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles to formulate and analyze as well as resolve issues in the field of agriculture.

Managers

  • Ability to plan and design agricultural resource developments effectively and productively.
  • Ability to implement and evaluate the implementation of agricultural resource developments appropriately in accordance to sustainable agriculture principles.
  • Ability to achieve your own potential in working together with a multidisciplinary team.

Entrepreneurs

  • Tenacity to start, implement and develop innovative enterprises in the area of sustainable agricultural resources.
  • Ability to establish cooperation (negotiating and communicating) effectively.
  • Ability to be innovative in applying science and technology in the area of sustainable agricultural resources and the tenacity to deal with entrepreneurial risks.

Researchers

  • Capacity to accurately identify and analyze problems within the area of sustainable agricultural resources.
